Wind gusts exceeding 60 mph are expected on Friday, and tornadoes are possible, according to the National Weather Service, which extended the Tornado Watch through 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.
"On Thursday, eight tornado reports were associated with Debby, from Siler City, North Carolina, through Virginia, to near Wilmington, Delaware," AccuWeather forecasters said.
"Amounts of over 10 inches (of rain) were reported Friday morning near Wintergreen Resort in Virginia and Hedgesville, West Virginia."
According to the National Weather Service, "In the short term this morning, a few tornadoes remain possible across portions of the Mid-Atlantic (North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland), although the risk will shift into the Northeast (New Jersey, eastern Pennsylvania, and southeast New York) later today."
Flood Warnings have also been issued for parts of the region.
